Here are some key responsibilities and functions typically associated with being a Notary Public :
Verifying identities : As a Notary Public, I am responsible for verifying the identities of the individuals involved in the signing of documents. This often involves examining identification documents such as passports, driver's licenses, or government-issued IDs.
Administering oaths and affirmations : Notaries have the authority to administer oaths and affirmations, which are formal declarations made by individuals regarding the truthfulness of the information provided in a document.
Witnessing document signings : One of the primary duties of a Notary Public is to witness the signing of documents. My role is to ensure that all parties involved are aware of the content of the document and are signing it willingly and knowingly.
Certifying copies : Notaries may also be authorized to certify copies of original documents. This involves comparing the copy to the original document and attesting that it is a true and accurate reproduction.
Notarial certificates : After witnessing a document signing, I will affix a notarial certificate or seal to the document
